Crosslinks conducts a Stakeholder Consultation Meeting for TreeShala in Sambalpur

Crosslinks Foundation successfully completed a local stakeholder consultation meeting for its Treeshala agroforestry program in Kuchinda, Sambalpur last week. The event was held in partnership with South Pole, world’s leading climate consultancy and carbon project expert with support from SARC, a local NGO. The meeting was convened to create greater awareness about the adverse impact of climate change on Indian agriculture, potential of agroforestry to mitigate and adapt to climate risks, and outline the major environmental and livelihood benefits of the TreeShala program for small and marginal farmers and the larger community.

The meeting saw strong participation from all key stakeholders in the neighborhood including farmers, self-help groups, local businesses, educators, civil society organizations and government functionaries. The event was graced by Ms. Sneha Prabha Sahu, Programme Officer of Integrated Tribal Development Agency( ITDA, Kuchinda) and Ms. Satyabhama Dhan, Assistant Director of Horticulture (Kuchinda).

At the event Crosslinks also announced that it intends to develop TreeShala as a high-quality carbon project under Gold Standard in partnership with South Pole and SYFT, a DIPP approved startup. The organization has instituted a comprehensive grievance reporting and redressal mechanism to ensure that all societal inputs are captured and addressed on priority while implementing Treeshala. Community feedback and suggestions are accepted via phone, web, email and a grievance register kept at our field office in Kuchinda.
